COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resources Management program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of HR functions and practical experience through a planned course sequence designed for full-time Fall intake students. In the first semester, students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Human Resources Management, Employment Law, Compensation, Organizational Behaviour, Recruitment and Selection, and Wellness and Employee Engagement, totaling 252 hours. These courses introduce students to essential concepts including employee relations, legal frameworks, compensation systems, and strategies for fostering workplace wellness and engagement. In the second semester, students advance their skills through courses covering Occupational Health and Safety, Training and Development, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources Planning, Employee and Labour Relations, and Human Resources Analytics, also totaling 252 hours. These courses focus on enhancing students’ abilities to manage workplace safety, develop employee skills, analyze HR data, and understand labor relations, while also incorporating financial acumen critical to HR decision-making. The program includes a 490-hour Co-op Work Term, providing students with valuable real-world experience in human resources management, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional setting and develop practical skills that improve employability. Overall, the program totals 990 hours, blending academic coursework with experiential learning to prepare graduates for dynamic roles in HR. Students gain the competencies required to support organizations in managing workforce challenges effectively, promoting employee well-being, and contributing to business success.
