COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Informatics program at Georgian College is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems, business analysis, and information technology, equipping them for roles in the evolving field of digital health. In Semester 1, students complete foundational courses such as Project Management, Foundations of Business Analysis, and Canadian Healthcare System, while also exploring critical topics like Health Information Legislation, Privacy and Security, Information Management and Clinical Practices, and Introduction to Health Informatics. These courses build the essential knowledge required to understand healthcare workflows, regulatory frameworks, and data security. In Semester 2, the program advances into more specialized areas including Data Standards and Interoperability, Health Informatics and Data Analytics, Health Systems Analysis, and Change Management and Business Analysis. Students also engage in Health Informatics and Clinical Practice, which integrates IT applications in clinical settings. The program culminates in an intensive Capstone project, where students apply their learning to real-world scenarios, demonstrating their ability to assess, plan, and implement health informatics solutions. With a total of 588 instructional hours, this program delivers a focused, practical education that prepares graduates for impactful roles in hospitals, government, healthcare organizations, and technology companies involved in digital health transformation.
