COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Technology program’s full-time Fall intake follows a structured six-semester plan designed to develop comprehensive skills in mechanical engineering technology. In Semester 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Computer Aided Design 1, Introduction to Technical Mathematics, Manufacturing Processes, Metrology, Electrical Components, and select communications and general education courses, totaling 336 hours. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with Computer Aided Design 2, Technical Mathematics, Machine Shop 1, Engineering Materials, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Instrumentation and Controls, Introduction to Mechatronics, Engineering Physics, and communications, totaling 336 hours. Semester 3 advances skills through Computer Aided Design 3, Calculus and Engineering Mathematics, Machine Shop 2, Statics, Fluid Mechanics, Introduction to Robotics, and communications courses, also 336 hours. Semester 4 focuses on sustainable engineering, programmable controllers, strength of materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer, dynamics, and project management with 294 hours. Semester 5 covers Computer Aided Engineering, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Engineering Tooling, Additive Manufacturing, Design of Energy Systems, Machine Design, and Statistics, Quality and Reliability, totaling 322 hours. Semester 6 rounds out the program with courses in Economics, Ethics, Entrepreneurship, Advanced Materials, Vibrations, Factory Simulation, Process Design, an Engineering Project, and two general education courses totaling 308 hours. Three co-op work terms of 560 hours each are integrated after Semesters 2, 5, and work term 2, providing 1,680 hours of practical experience, ensuring graduates are prepared for the industry.
