COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental program’s Fall intake follows a structured six-semester sequence designed to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge. In Semester 1, students focus on foundational courses such as Computer Technology for Environmental Applications, Workplace Safety, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Applied Environmental Mathematics, Physical Systems, and a Communications course, totaling 294 hours. Semester 2 includes Biological Systems, Applied Environmental Chemistry, Geospatial Technology, Water Treatment, Applied Statistics, and another Communications course, adding 280 hours. Semester 3 builds on this with Applied Organic Chemistry, Ecosystems and Environmental Sampling, Limnology and Watershed Management, Environmental Management Systems and Audits, Soil Properties, Environmental Surveying, and a General Education course, totaling 280 hours. Semester 4 emphasizes Waste Management, Environmental Assessment and Contaminants, Environmental CAD, Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Law and Policy, and two General Education courses for 308 hours. Semester 5 introduces Applied Hydrology, Advanced GIS, Project Management and Technical Writing, Stormwater Management, Environmental Analytical Methods, and Environmental Fluid Mechanics, totaling 280 hours. The final Semester 6 covers Toxicology, Spill Response, Stakeholder Engagement, Atmospheric Science, Advanced Environmental Sampling, and an Applied Research Project, adding 280 hours. The program also includes three co-op work terms totaling 1680 hours, offering hands-on experience essential for real-world application and career readiness.
