COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechatronics Engineering Technology advanced diploma program offers a comprehensive curriculum combining electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering to prepare students for the future of advanced manufacturing and automation. The structured six-semester academic plan includes foundational and advanced courses such as DC/AC circuits, fluid power control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), microprocessors, robotics, motor control, smart manufacturing, machine design, and totally integrated automation. Students also study applied engineering math, computer-aided design (CAD), mechanics, kinematics, simulation, project management, and web/database systems, reinforcing the interdisciplinary nature of mechatronics. Lab-intensive courses develop practical skills using state-of-the-art tools, while multiple communications and general education courses support professional development. The capstone project in the final semester enables students to synthesize their learning in a real-world system design and implementation scenario. Additionally, the program includes three co-op work terms, each 560 hours, providing valuable hands-on industry experience, professional networking opportunities, and a clearer understanding of career pathways. With a total of 1820 in-class hours and 1680 co-op hours, graduates are well-prepared for roles in automation, robotics, manufacturing, and related sectors. This robust program is also aligned with Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification Program (SMSCP), further enhancing employment readiness and industry recognition.
