COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technology program follows a structured six-semester plan that builds progressively from foundational concepts to advanced industry-specific skills. In Semester 1, students are introduced to technical drafting, DC circuit fundamentals, mathematics, physical sciences, communications, and general education, totaling 266 hours. Semester 2 deepens knowledge with AC circuit fundamentals, CAD electrical circuits, electrical systems and control, technical mathematics, communications, and a general education course, for a total of 280 hours. Semester 3 introduces practical and theoretical learning in electrical machines, electronic fundamentals, CAD electrical layouts, power transmission and distribution, robotics, and geographic information systems, totaling 280 hours. In Semester 4, students explore microprocessors, PLCs, hydro codes, preventative maintenance, digital circuits, applied statistics, and complete a general education elective, amounting to 308 hours. Semester 5 includes instrumentation, electrical protection and control, advanced PLCs, robotics, calculus, and project management, totaling 266 hours. Semester 6 rounds out the program with networking, systems integration, electronic motor control, power quality and distribution, and technical report writing for 266 hours. The curriculum is enhanced by three co-op work terms, each 560 hours, allowing students to gain 1,680 hours of industry experience. In total, the academic and co-op components of the program amount to 3,346 hours of comprehensive training.
