COURSE CURRICULUM

The Police Foundations program is a full-time, four-semester course sequence totaling 1,092 hours, designed to prepare students for careers in Canadian policing and public safety. In Semester 1, students complete 252 hours covering foundational courses such as Introduction to Security Skills, Canadian Criminal Justice, Public Safety and Emergency Management, and Interviewing and Documentation, along with a communications course and a general education course to build essential communication and critical thinking skills. Semester 2, totaling 294 hours, focuses on Fitness and Wellness for Policing, Government in Canadian Society, Introduction to Criminal Law, Mental Health in Public Safety, and Community Policing Response to Social Issues, with additional communications and general education courses to support student development. Semester 3 continues with 294 hours emphasizing advanced fitness training, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Provincial Statutes, Police Powers, Forensic Crime Scene Investigation, and Career Entry Preparation, plus a general education course. The final Semester 4 consists of 252 hours covering Criminology, Public Safety Capstone, Trends and Issues in Policing, Cybercrime, Conflict Management and Crisis Intervention, and Youth Justice in Canada.
