COURSE CURRICULUM

The Paramedic program’s full-time course sequence for the Fall intake is structured over four semesters to provide a comprehensive education combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and clinical experience. In Semester 1, students begin with foundational courses including Anatomy and Physiology Introduction, Human Pathophysiology Introduction, Paramedic Fitness Training, and Patient Care Theory. They also cover Medico-Legal Aspects, Communication for Paramedics, and introductory Patient Care Procedures, along with communications and general education courses, totaling 350 hours. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with advanced anatomy and pathophysiology courses, intermediate Patient Care Theory and Procedures, and Ambulance Operations theory and lab work. Students also engage in a hospital clinical placement and complete communications and general education courses, summing to 378 hours. Semester 3 deepens their expertise with advanced Patient Care Theory, Advanced Skills Theory, Pharmacology, and courses focused on research, professionalism, and leadership. Clinical learning continues with a hospital placement and an ambulance field experience, plus general education courses, totaling 406 hours. In the final semester, students participate in a Paramedic Review and Advanced Skills Lab, followed by a consolidated ambulance field placement. This last term includes 434 hours of focused practical training, ensuring readiness for real-world paramedic work. The entire program blends classroom instruction, labs, clinical placements, and field experience to prepare students for the demands of emergency medical services, emphasizing patient care, operational skills, and professional conduct. The total program hours provide a balanced, immersive pathway to becoming a competent paramedic, ready to respond confidently in critical situations.
