COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Office Administration program follows a structured, full-time course sequence beginning in the Fall and totaling 1,008 hours over four semesters. In Semester 1, students complete 252 hours focused on foundational administrative skills with courses such as Business Documentation and Text Processing, Office Procedures, Professional Development, and Computer Applications, alongside a communication and a general education course. Semester 2 builds on these skills with another 252 hours covering Advanced Business Documentation, Multimedia Communications, Office Math Applications, Introduction to Medical Terminology, and further development in computer applications and employability, complemented by a second communications course. Semester 3 continues with 252 hours of more specialized training in Integrated Office Simulations, Anatomy for Health Services, Bookkeeping, Health Services Transcription, and Electronic Medical Office procedures, along with a general education course. In the final semester, students complete their training with Computerized Administrative Simulations, further Anatomy studies, Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) processes, Health Records and Information Management, and a hands-on Health Services Practical Experience and Clinical Applications course, along with one final general education course. This well-rounded program prepares graduates for diverse administrative roles in medical offices, clinics, and hospitals, blending theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience.
