COURSE CURRICULUM

This program offers a structured plan of study designed to develop precision skills in mechanical technology, particularly focusing on CNC machining and tool making. In the first semester, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as CNC Applications, Mathematics for Mechanical Technicians, Basic Machine Tool Application, Basic Machine Tool Theory, and Interpreting Engineering Drawings, along with a communications course, totaling 322 hours. The second semester advances these skills with courses including CAD CAM Design, advanced CNC Applications, Advanced Machine Tool Applications and Theory, plus another communications course, amounting to 308 hours. In the third semester, students focus on CNC Process and Fixture Technology, CAD CAM Design, and Basic Tool Making Theory and Applications, alongside a general education course, accumulating 308 hours. The fourth semester emphasizes CNC Manufacturing (Design and Applications), Integration of Manufacturing Processes, Advanced Tool Making Theory, and two general education courses, totaling 322 hours. Additionally, students complete a 560-hour co-op work term to gain hands-on industry experience as Mechanical Technicians specializing in precision skills. The total program hours amount to 1,820, combining rigorous academic learning with practical work exposure to prepare graduates for advanced roles in manufacturing and precision machining industries.
