COURSE CURRICULUM

The program’s planned course sequence for full-time Fall intake offers a comprehensive four-semester curriculum totaling 1008 hours, with co-op work terms adding an additional 850 hours. In Semester 1, students take foundational courses including Microcomputer Applications, Ojibwe Language and Culture 1, Personal Growth and Development, Indigenous Heritage, Tradition and Culture, along with a Communications and a General Education course, totaling 252 hours. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with Ojibwe Language and Culture 2, Indigenous Community and Family Life, Introduction to Psychology from an Indigenous perspective, Holistic Health and Healing, Work Environment Communication, plus a General Education course, again totaling 252 hours. Semester 3 deepens understanding through Ojibwe Language and Culture 3, Indigenous People and Health Care, Introduction to Counselling, Indigenous Treaties, Rights and Laws, Community Growth and Program Development, and a General Education course, totaling another 252 hours. Semester 4 concludes with Ojibwe Language and Culture 4, Community Administration and Human Resource Practices, Family Counselling, Indigenous Proposal Development, Indigenous Cultural Safety and Awareness, and a General Education course, also totaling 252 hours. Complementing these semesters, two co-op work terms provide practical experience: Indigenous Education Work Term 1 after Semester 2 and Indigenous Education Work Term 2 after Semester 4, each comprising 425 hours. This structure equips students with both academic knowledge and hands-on skills critical to supporting Indigenous communities and organizations.
