COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game – Design and Simulation program offers a structured, four-semester plan that progressively builds students’ skills and knowledge in game development. In the first semester, students are introduced to foundational subjects including game programming, digital art, design principles, narrative storytelling, and mathematics and physics specific to game design. They also develop project management skills essential for working in collaborative development environments. The second semester deepens technical expertise with continued study in game programming and the use of game engines, while also exploring texturing, modelling, interface design, animation, and the processes involved in game publishing. The third semester shifts focus toward more advanced applications such as lighting and rendering, sound design, and building immersive game worlds and levels. Students further develop their design portfolios and begin to refine their unique style and strengths in preparation for a career in the industry. The final semester emphasizes high-level skills including artificial intelligence programming, interactive simulation, advanced game engine functionality, and multiplayer game design. Students complete a second portfolio course that showcases their cumulative learning and creativity. Throughout the program, students complete general education and communications courses that support professional development and workplace readiness. This well-rounded curriculum ensures graduates are equipped with technical proficiency, creative skill, and industry awareness to enter careers in game development, simulation design, and related digital media fields.
