COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electromechanical Engineering Technician program follows a structured four-semester plan combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience in mechatronics, electronics, mechanics, and automation. In Semester 1, students are introduced to core concepts such as programming, engineering design, DC circuits, mechatronic systems, and applied math, supported by communication studies. Semester 2 deepens this foundation with courses in fluid power control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), digital and electronic systems, AC circuits, and applied calculus, along with a general education elective. Semester 3 advances the curriculum with applied engineering mechanics, motor control, industrial control systems, advanced PLCs, networking, and design for manufacturing and assembly, complemented by a second communication course. In Semester 4, students study microprocessors, applied mechanics of materials, robotics, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and complete two general education electives to round out their education. The program includes a mandatory 560-hour co-op work term after the second semester, offering hands-on industry experience and opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-world environments. This comprehensive sequence, totaling 1,274 instructional hours plus co-op, ensures students graduate with strong interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills necessary for roles in manufacturing, automation, and industrial maintenance within a wide range of industries.
