COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Programming program follows a structured plan of study that prepares students for careers in software and web development. In Semester 1, students gain foundational skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, programming fundamentals, networking, Internet of Things using Arduino, and math for computing, alongside a communications course, totaling 252 hours. Semester 2 builds on this with web programming using PHP, object-oriented programming in Java, interface design with CSS, relational databases, document automation using Python, and a second communications course, also totaling 252 hours. In Semester 3, students delve into advanced object-oriented programming, client-side JavaScript, server-side scripting with ASP.NET, cloud computing services, and entrepreneurship, while also completing a general education elective, again totaling 252 hours. Semester 4 focuses on JavaScript frameworks, mobile and pervasive computing, systems analysis, project management, two general education electives, and one program option course from a broad selection including mobile development, C++, AI, and data analytics, for a total of 252 hours. A co-op work term of 490 hours follows, giving students hands-on industry experience. The total in-class hours across four semesters is 1008, and combined with the co-op placement, students complete a total of 1498 program hours, gaining comprehensive technical and workplace skills.
