COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting program follows a structured four-semester course sequence designed to provide students with a strong foundation in accounting principles and related business knowledge. In the first semester, students take core courses including Financial Accounting Principles 1, Introduction to Organizational Behaviour, Microcomputer Applications, Mathematics of Finance, and Introduction to Marketing, along with a communications course, totaling 252 hours. The second semester builds on this foundation with Financial Accounting Principles 2, Business Applications for Accounting, Business Finance, and Statistics 1, plus communications and a general education course, amounting to 266 hours. The third semester delves deeper into accounting topics such as Cost Accounting 1, Personal Taxation, and Intermediate Financial Accounting 1, alongside Microeconomics and two general education courses, making up 308 hours. In the final semester, students complete advanced accounting courses including Cost Accounting 2, Applied Excel, and Intermediate Financial Accounting 2, along with Macroeconomics, Business Law, and one program option course, totaling 294 hours. The program option courses available in the fourth semester include Payroll Administration, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Managerial Finance, Human Resources Management Foundations, and Introduction to Project Management. Throughout the program, students develop essential skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, communication, and teamwork, preparing them for a career in accounting. The total program requires 1120 hours of study. Students are encouraged to select communication and general education courses during registration to complement their accounting studies and enhance their overall educational experience. This comprehensive curriculum equips graduates with the knowledge and practical skills to support accounting functions in diverse organizational settings and pursue further education if desired.
