COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biotechnology – Health program is structured over four semesters, with a total of 1260 hours designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the field. In the first semester, students take courses in Human Physiology, Cell Biology, Introduction to Biotechnology, and Chemistry for Biotechnology, along with Introduction to Measurement and Mathematics for Biotechnology, totaling 336 hours. They also select a communications course to develop their professional communication skills. The second semester continues with Statistics, Human Physiology II, Introduction to Molecular and Biochemical Techniques, Microbiology, and Chemistry for Biotechnology II, plus a general education course, amounting to 294 hours. Semester three deepens the technical expertise with Advanced Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Techniques, Organic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry, alongside another general education course, totaling 308 hours. In the final semester, students focus on Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Tissue Culture and Histology, Mendelian and Molecular Genetics, Protein Science, and Current Topics in Biotechnology, complemented by a general education course, for 322 hours. This structured progression allows students to build a strong foundation in biotechnology principles, laboratory skills, and critical thinking, preparing them for careers in various sectors of the biotechnology industry or further post-secondary education.
