COURSE CURRICULUM

The Office Administration – General program at Georgian College is structured over two semesters, offering students a balanced blend of technical, administrative, and communication training. In the first semester, students build foundational office skills through courses such as Business Documentation and Text Processing, Office Procedures and Strategies, Computer Applications 1 for the Office, and Professional Development and Employability 1. These courses are supported by a communications course and a general education elective selected during registration, bringing the semester’s total to 252 hours. The focus is on developing keyboarding proficiency, mastering office software, and learning the fundamentals of office procedures, all while building professionalism and workplace readiness.The second semester builds on this foundation with advanced training and specialized options. Courses include Advanced Business Documentation, Office Math Applications, Multi Media Communications, Computer Applications 2 for the Office, and Professional Development and Employability 2. Students continue with an additional communications course and select a program option course from a comprehensive list that includes accounting, entrepreneurship, marketing, legal or medical office terminology, and more, enabling them to tailor their education toward specific career interests or future study paths. This semester also totals 252 hours, bringing the entire program to 504 hours. Upon completion, students are equipped to work effectively in a variety of office environments or may choose to continue their studies in a second-year specialization such as Health Services or Executive Office Administration.
