COURSE CURRICULUM

The program’s planned course sequence for full-time students in the Fall intake is designed to build comprehensive knowledge and skills progressively over three semesters. In Semester 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Introduction to Electricity and Introduction to Gas Appliances, gaining essential technical skills along with Professional Practices and Piping and Tubing Systems, supported by a communications course to enhance workplace communication. This semester totals 238 hours. Semester 2 advances students’ expertise with courses in Basic Electricity and Controls, Gas Appliances, and Buildings and Air Handling, while introducing HRAC Business Development to cover industry-specific business skills. Students also continue to develop communication and general education skills, totaling 266 hours. In Semester 3, the focus shifts to specialized technical topics including Electrical Troubleshooting Applications, Piping, Forced Air and Space Heating, Water Heaters and Hydronic Heating, and Venting systems. HRAC Human Resource Foundations is included to strengthen leadership and human resource management skills. The semester concludes with a general education course, bringing the total to 266 hours. Across the three semesters, students complete 770 hours of coursework designed to prepare them for industry certification and practical work in residential and commercial gas appliance installation and maintenance, combining technical proficiency with communication and professional skills for career success.
