COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certified Dental Assistant program offers a structured three-semester full-time curriculum designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience necessary for success in the dental assisting field. In the first semester, students begin with foundational courses including The Essential Body and Orofacial Anatomy, alongside Dental Radiography and Dental Assisting Practice and Sciences. These courses build essential skills in anatomy, radiography techniques, and basic dental assisting procedures. Practical learning is emphasized through the Dental Assisting Lab/Clinic, where students gain hands-on experience in clinical settings. Communication skills are also developed through a communications course selected during registration. The second semester advances students’ knowledge with courses such as Dental Health Education, Introduction to Dental Materials and Specialties, and Intraoral Preventive Procedures, complemented by continued practice in Dental Assisting Lab/Clinic. A general education course is also included to support broader learning goals. In the third semester, students refine their clinical skills with Advanced Dental Materials and Dental Assisting Practice, alongside intensive clinical and field placements that provide real-world experience. This field placement prepares students for the transition to professional practice by immersing them in dental office environments. Altogether, the program totals 962 hours, combining classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical experience to ensure graduates are competent, confident, and ready to meet the demands of a Certified Dental Assistant career.
