COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aquaculture Post-Graduate Certificate program is structured across three semesters, blending in-person learning with hands-on fieldwork and a co-op placement. In Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Aquaculture Safety, Biology of Aquaculture, Mechanical Systems in Aquaculture, and specialized workshops like Trout and Salmon Farming Field Trips and Zebra Fish Biomedical Husbandry, totaling substantial practical and theoretical hours. Semester 2 deepens industry expertise with courses covering Aqua Certifications and Welfare, Aquaculture in the Modern World, Aquaponic Enterprises, Field Skills, and advanced topics like Supervisory Fish Husbandry and Hatchery Management, alongside additional Trout and Salmon Farming workshops. These courses emphasize operational skills and contemporary aquaculture practices. The program culminates in Semester 3 with an extensive co-op placement, where students gain 320 hours of real-world experience in aquaculture operations, enabling them to apply classroom learning in professional settings. This comprehensive curriculum equips graduates with both the technical skills and practical experience necessary to thrive in various aquaculture roles, combining scientific knowledge, operational expertise, and industry engagement to meet the demands of a growing and sustainable aquaculture sector.
