COURSE CURRICULUM

The Museum Management and Curatorship program spans three semesters, with the first two delivered in person and the third consisting of an extensive 600-hour field placement. In Semester 1, students build foundational skills through courses like Care of Collections I, Collections Management I, Curatorial Research Methods, and Exhibition Development I. They also learn about Educational and Interpretive Programming, Gallery and Museum Administration, and Technology Applications for Museums, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for museum work.Semester 2 advances these skills with Care of Collections II, Collections Management II—which emphasizes ethics, stewardship, and collection development—and further courses in Educational and Interpretive Programming and Exhibition Development focusing on in-house exhibitions. Students also study Gallery and Museum Administration II, explore Technology Applications for Museums II, and participate in Internship and Career Orientation to prepare for real-world employment.The final semester immerses students in a 600-hour field placement, offering valuable hands-on experience in professional museum or gallery settings. This practical placement allows students to apply their classroom learning to real projects and challenges, further developing their expertise as museum professionals. This comprehensive curriculum, combining classroom instruction and immersive fieldwork, equips graduates with the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary for successful careers in museum management and curatorship.
