COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graphic Design – Visual Communication program curriculum delivered in person, designed to develop students’ artistic, technical, and conceptual skills across a wide range of media. The first semester introduces foundational courses such as Content Design I, Drawing, Photography for Graphic Design, Printed Matter, Storytelling and Design, Visual Communication and Design in Context I, and Visual Language - Form, providing students with essential tools to communicate visually. The second semester builds on this foundation with courses like Content Design II, Illustration, Typography I, Visual Communication and Design in Context II, Visual Identity, and Visual Language - Image, along with a general education elective to broaden perspectives. In the third semester, students explore more specialized topics including Book Design, an intensive project-based course titled Classroom as Design Lab: Project I, Integrative Communication and Environmental Graphics, Typography II, and Writing for Design. The fourth semester continues with Applied Dimensional Design and Packaging, Classroom as Design Lab: Project II, Content Design III, and another general education elective, encouraging deeper engagement with real-world design challenges. The fifth semester emphasizes community involvement through the Community Client course, Editorial Design, Entrepreneurship and Internship preparation, and a web-based general education elective. Finally, the program culminates in the sixth semester with an Independent Project and a substantial internship in graphic design, providing vital professional experience. Throughout the program, students develop their creativity, technical proficiency, collaboration, and communication skills, preparing them to enter the design industry confidently with a strong portfolio and practical experience.
