COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technology program prepares students for in-demand careers in industrial power systems, process control, and automation. With an emphasis on safety and hands-on experience, students build a strong foundation in electrical and electronic systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, robotics, IIoT, and automation technologies. Courses cover applied mathematics, AutoCAD drafting, microcontrollers, fluid power systems, industrial networks, and process control. Industry-focused learning is reinforced with technical labs and project-based coursework using up-to-date industrial equipment and software. Students develop workplace readiness skills through project management, quality systems, and communications training. The program incorporates Canadian Electrical Code standards, safety certifications, and practical skills in areas like motor controls, power distribution, and alternative energy. In the final year, students explore advanced topics such as Industry 4.0, robotics, and mechatronics, and complete an applied capstone project to demonstrate their technical knowledge and innovation. An optional co-op provides additional real-world experience. With increasing demand for skilled electrical technologists across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors, this program equips graduates with the versatile skillset needed to succeed in today’s evolving energy and automation landscape. It also provides a pathway to pursue further certifications or apprenticeships within the electrical field.
