COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Security and Investigations program at Fleming College is a three-year, in-person diploma designed to prepare students for careers in cybersecurity, digital investigations, and IT risk management. The curriculum emphasizes a blend of technical training, investigative techniques, and legal knowledge, supported by hands-on learning and industry-aligned projects. In the first two semesters, students build foundational skills in communications, scripting, operating systems, cyber trends, and hardware, progressing to core concepts in information security, risk management, and networking. As they advance, students gain deeper knowledge in areas such as internet investigations, Linux administration, cybersecurity law, and scripting for security applications. Semesters three and four introduce specialized topics like packet analysis, cloud provisioning, wireless security, agile project management, digital forensics, cryptography, and penetration testing. Courses like Network Analysis and Forensics and Emergency Management further develop students' practical abilities in securing and investigating modern IT infrastructures. In semester five, students study advanced pentesting, firewalls, compliance, and security architecture. The final semester features a full-time applied project or field placement, allowing students to collaborate with real organizations to apply their learning in a professional setting. Graduates leave the program equipped with the technical skills, legal understanding, and investigative capabilities needed for roles such as cybersecurity analyst, forensic investigator, or IT security consultant, supported by opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications.
