COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technician program is a comprehensive four-semester, in-person course of study designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for entry-level positions or apprenticeships in the electrical industry. In the first semester, students build a foundation in applied mathematics, communications, computer technologies, drafting with AutoCAD, basic electricity, health and safety, and labor technology. The second semester advances skills in applied mathematics, electrical safety and code, electricity, electronics, instrumentation, and physics, alongside a general education elective. The third semester deepens expertise with electrical code calculations, power generation and distribution, advanced electronics, fluid power systems, legal and ethical issues in the electrical sector, microcontroller programming, and motor controls. In the final semester, students focus on motor drive controllers, alternative energy, industrial control networks, embedded microcontroller systems, programmable logic controllers, and project management, concluding with another general education elective. Throughout the program, extensive hands-on labs and practical applications prepare students to meet the increasing demand for skilled electrical technicians in manufacturing, construction, and other industries facing workforce shortages due to growth and retirements.
