COURSE CURRICULUM

The Massage Therapy program at Fleming College is delivered over five semesters in a hybrid format, combining online and in-person learning to provide a comprehensive education. In Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Anatomy & Physiology I, Introduction to Massage, Regional Anatomy I, and Communications for Health Professionals, alongside practical clinic orientation and palpation skills. Semester 2 advances students’ understanding through Anatomy & Physiology II, Introduction to Assessment, Massage Practicum, and Standards and Legalities for Massage Therapy, while continuing clinic practice and regional anatomy studies. Semester 3 focuses on advanced physiology, orthopedic assessment, joint play, pharmacology, and treatment techniques, coupled with clinical practice. Semester 4 deepens clinical skills with Clinic IV and Clinical Pathology, differential assessment, evidence-based practice, management strategies for small business, and psychology of manual therapy, while continuing treatment sessions and palpation development. The final semester, Semester 5, emphasizes extensive clinical practice through Clinic V, advanced clinical pathology, law and ethics review, modalities, preparation for comprehensive exams, and treatment skills refinement. Throughout the program, students engage in both theoretical coursework and hands-on clinic experiences designed to prepare them for professional practice. General education electives are integrated into the curriculum to enhance well-rounded learning. This structured progression ensures graduates are well-prepared to meet the requirements of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario registration exams and succeed as competent, confident Registered Massage Therapists.
