COURSE CURRICULUM

The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning program spans three semesters, each delivered in person to provide hands-on, practical training alongside theoretical knowledge. In Semester 1, students focus on foundational skills such as Codes and Regulations for Heating, Computer Skills in Trades, Electrical I, and Health and Safety Theory Applications. Core technical courses include Introduction to Gas Appliances, Oil Heating Systems I, Piping and Tubing, Prints and Drafting, Renewable Energy Sources, and Trade Calculations I, preparing students for industry standards and safety protocols. Semester 2 builds on these basics with courses like Communications for Trades and Technology Professionals, Controls and Pressure Regulators, Electrical II, Mechanical Ventilation, Oil Heating Systems II, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Theory. Students also study The Building as a System and continue to develop their math skills with Trade Calculations II. General education electives support broader learning and professional growth. In Semester 3, students advance to specialized topics such as Advanced Controls, Air Handling, Forced Air Systems, Gas Appliances, and Hydronic Heating Systems, which are critical for modern HVACR professionals. Introduction to College Physics and Welding Processes & Practices add to technical versatility, while Skilled Trades Portfolio Development assists in career readiness. A final general education elective encourages well-rounded knowledge. This comprehensive curriculum ensures graduates are equipped with essential skills, technical expertise, and industry knowledge, ready to meet the demands of a dynamic, energy-conscious heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning sector.
