COURSE CURRICULUM

The first semester of the Jewellery Arts program offers a comprehensive range of courses designed to develop both your technical skills and artistic creativity. You will study Art History VIII: Jewellery to understand the historical and cultural context of jewellery design, while hands-on courses such as Chain Making for Jewellery Arts and Design – Jewellery help you build foundational skills and explore creative design concepts. Drawing and Rendering enhances your ability to visually communicate your ideas. Practical skills are emphasized through Jewellery Casting I – Modelmaking and a series of Jewellery Fabrication courses (I, II, and III), where you will learn techniques in metalworking, shaping, and construction. Jewellery Forming I and II focus on manipulating metal into various forms, while Jewellery Stone Setting teaches the precise art of securely setting gems. Surface Decoration I and II introduce decorative techniques to enhance your pieces with unique textures and finishes. Throughout the semester, you will also participate in Marketing and Portfolio Development to prepare you for professional success by creating a strong portfolio and learning how to promote your work effectively. This carefully balanced curriculum ensures you gain both the technical mastery and artistic vision needed for a career in jewellery design and fabrication.
