COURSE CURRICULUM

The Personal Support Worker program spans two semesters, combining in-person and hybrid delivery to provide a comprehensive education. In the first semester, students focus on foundational knowledge and skills, including clinical preparation, communication, computer skills, and interpersonal development. Core courses such as Foundations for Personal Support Worker I, PSW Applications and Interventions I, and PSW Skills Lab I build practical abilities, while courses like Across the Lifespan and PSW Clinical I in long-term care offer hands-on clinical experience. The second semester expands on this foundation with advanced topics including medication assistance, mental health, palliative care, and further clinical practice. Students engage in PSW Applications and Interventions II, as well as extensive clinical placements in long-term care and community settings. The program also includes PSW Consolidation and Professional Practice and Simulation courses to refine skills and prepare students for real-world challenges. The hybrid delivery format allows for flexibility while ensuring essential in-person practice. This rigorous curriculum is designed to equip students with the expertise, confidence, and professionalism required to excel as Personal Support Workers, supporting individuals across various care settings with compassion and competence.
