COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Techniques program provides students with comprehensive training through a well-rounded curriculum focused on foundational theory, practical skills, and industry standards. In the first semester, students build a strong base with courses such as Communications I for Trades and Technology Professionals, Drawings, Standards and Specifications Fundamentals, Electrical Fundamentals, and Electrical Installation Practices. These are supported by essential skills in Health and Safety Theory Applications and Trade Calculations I. The second semester expands on these concepts with more advanced and hands-on courses, including Drafting Applications and AutoCAD, Electrical Documentation, and Electronic Fundamentals. Students also dive deeper into Installation and Maintenance Methods, study the Introduction to the Canadian Electrical Code, and advance their math skills in Trade Calculations II. Trade Practices further strengthens their understanding of job site responsibilities and real-world applications. With a total of 13 courses delivered in person across two semesters, the program prepares students for entry-level roles or apprenticeship opportunities in the electrical field. It offers the same curriculum found in Level 1 of Ontario’s Electrician Apprenticeship training, making it a strategic starting point for those pursuing a career as an electrician or continuing into Electrical Engineering Technician programs. The program ensures graduates leave with relevant, job-ready skills.
