COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dental Hygiene program is structured across six levels, each building essential knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career in oral health. In Level 1, students take foundational courses such as Reason & Writing for Health Sciences, Anatomy & Physiology, Oral Microbiology & Immunology, and introductory courses in Dental Hygiene Theory, Radiography, Health Promotion, and Professional Practice. Level 2 deepens understanding with courses in Oral Histology & Embryology, advanced Dental Hygiene Theory & Practice, Radiography, Head, Neck & Dental Anatomy, Health Promotion, and Dental Materials. Level 3 integrates a General Education elective alongside critical subjects like Periodontology, Pathophysiology & Pharmacology, Nutrition & Oral Health, Research Methods, Dental Materials, and Clinical Practice, supported by Psychology from a case study perspective. Level 4 continues with a General Education elective and advanced courses including Oral Pathology & Pharmacology, extensive Clinical Practice, Professional Practice, Multiculturalism in Health Care, and Gerontology & Oral Health. Level 5 focuses heavily on Clinical Practice and Community Health Practice, alongside Orthodontics and Dental Hygiene Practice Management, preparing students for real-world professional demands. Finally, Level 6 emphasizes comprehensive Clinical Practice, Evidence-Based Practice, Professional Practice, Practice Management, and Community Health Practice, rounding out the program with extensive hands-on experience and management skills. This progressive curriculum ensures students develop a solid scientific foundation, advanced clinical expertise, and strong professional and community health competencies, preparing graduates to deliver high-quality, client-centered dental hygiene care in diverse healthcare environments.
