COURSE CURRICULUM

The Educational Support program is structured across four levels to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to work as effective teaching assistants. In Level 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Reason and Writing for Community Studies, Educational Assistants in the Classroom, Interpersonal Development, Applied Behaviour Analysis, and Introduction to Exceptionalities, along with an observation practicum and field placement orientation. Level 2 focuses on communication and practical support strategies, including Communications for Community Studies, Partnerships with Families, observation and tracking techniques, Technology in Education, and Exceptional Learners, supported by a field practicum and seminar. In Level 3, students deepen their understanding with Developmental Psychology, classroom education practices, instructional strategies, inclusion and diversity, and advanced exceptional learner studies, along with a second practicum and seminar. Level 4 emphasizes professional readiness through courses such as Working in Multidisciplinary Teams, advanced Technology in Education, and Supporting Personal Care, along with an extensive field practicum. Throughout the program, students gain real-world experience in educational settings, developing skills in behaviour management, academic support, assistive technology, and inclusive practices, preparing them to support learners with diverse needs effectively.
