COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program is structured over four years to develop competent, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing professionals. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Pathways to Professional Success, Being and Becoming a Nurse, Holistic Assessment, Clinical Reasoning, Wellbeing in Older Adults, Introduction to Research, Anatomy and Physiology, and associated labs, clinical practice, and practicum experiences focused on aging populations and transition to practice. In Year 2, the focus shifts to Mental Health and Wellness, Community Nursing, Supporting Health, Microbiology and Immunology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology and Therapeutics, along with extensive practice and practicum experiences in community and clinical settings. Year 3 emphasizes complex care and social responsibility through courses in Social Justice and Equity, Health Challenges, Bioethics, Reproductive Health, and Human Development from Childhood to Adulthood, supported by clinical practice and practicum placements. In Year 4, students develop advanced competencies in Leadership, Global Health and Environmental Justice, and Complex Health Challenges, along with extensive clinical practice and practicum experiences. The final term includes Transition to Practice and NCLEX preparation, as well as a Capstone Discovery Experience. Overall, the program integrates theory, simulation, and real-world clinical practice to prepare graduates for professional nursing practice.
