COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Technology program is structured over six levels to build strong scientific knowledge and practical skills in environmental monitoring, analysis, and protection. In Level 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Cytology, General Chemistry, Environmental and Science Issues, Mathematics, Fundamentals of Science, and Reason and Writing for Technology. Level 2 expands into Microbiology, advanced Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and includes co-op preparation to introduce students to workplace experience. In Level 3, students study Analytical Chemistry, Water Quality Management, Water Distribution and Treatment, Statistics, and Hydrogeology, focusing on water systems and environmental analysis. Level 4 continues with Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Thermodynamics and Optics, Calculus, and advanced Water Quality Management. In Level 5, students focus on Organic Chemistry, Air Pollution Meteorology, Air Quality Sampling and Evaluation, Water Sampling Laboratory work, and Waste Management topics. Level 6 includes Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Industrial Hygiene, Air Sampling and Evaluation labs, Air Pollution Meteorology lab, Communication Skills, and a Capstone Course. Overall, the program integrates chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, and environmental sciences with hands-on laboratory and fieldwork, preparing graduates for careers in environmental monitoring, pollution control, water treatment, and sustainability-focused industries.
