COURSE CURRICULUM

The Event Planning program offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the skills needed to succeed in the dynamic events industry. In Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Communications for Business 1, Computers for Hospitality, Customer Service, and Introduction to Events Industry, along with Event Planning Cycle and Managing Teams and Leadership, complemented by a General Education Elective. Semester 2 deepens understanding with Accounting for Hospitality, Career Planning, Event Program and Production Development, and Event Site and Logistics Planning. Students also study Human Resource Management for Hospitality, Marketing and Social Media, and complete another General Education Elective. In Semester 3, students begin to apply their learning practically through Catering and Banquet Services, Capstone Event Planning, and Finance for Special Events. They also prepare for their placement through Field Placement Workshop and develop skills in Digital Marketing Design and Sales and Sponsorship. The final semester focuses on real-world application with the execution of a Capstone Event and a hands-on Field Placement. Courses in Sustainable Business Practices for Events, Risk and Security Management, The Business of Non-Profits, and an Indigenous Elective round out the final term, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the evolving event industry.
