COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering Technician program offers a well-rounded curriculum across four semesters, combining theoretical learning with practical skills development to prepare students for careers in the civil engineering field. In Semester 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Mathematics for Civil Engineering I, Computer Aided Drafting for Civil, Construction Materials and Testing, Introduction to Civil Engineering, Surveying Principles, and Communication Foundations, along with a General Education elective. Semester 2 advances these skills with Mathematics II, 3D Drafting, Strength of Materials, Hydrology and Hydraulics, and Advanced Surveying, as well as Career Planning & Development and another General Education elective. In Semester 3, the focus shifts to applied knowledge with courses like Construction Site Supervision and Management, Steel and Wood Technology, Soil Mechanics, Water and Wastewater Technology, and Geographic Information Systems, alongside a third General Education elective. Semester 4 prepares students for the workplace with specialized courses including Civil Project Estimating, Concrete and Masonry Design, Municipal Services, Pavement Engineering, QA/QC in Civil Works, and Building Information Modeling I. The program concludes with a Field Placement, giving students valuable hands-on experience in real-world settings. This comprehensive course structure ensures graduates are ready to contribute effectively to civil engineering projects across various sectors.
