COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering Technician – Non-Destructive Evaluation (fast-track) program includes a focused curriculum designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. In the first semester, students study Metallurgy for Non-Destructive Testing (METL 1132), gaining an understanding of material properties crucial for defect detection. They are introduced to the fundamentals of Non-Destructive Testing (NDTE 1100) and learn specific techniques such as Liquid Penetrant Testing (NDTE 1102), Ultrasonic Testing I (NDTE 3101), and Visual Testing (VISU 3100), which provide hands-on experience in identifying surface and subsurface flaws. The second semester builds on this foundation with advanced topics in NDE (METO 4200), Magnetic Particle Testing (NDTE 2101), Ultrasonic Testing II (NDTE 3102), Eddy Current Testing (NDTE 4101), and Radiography and Radiation Safety (RAD 4101). These courses cover more complex inspection methods and safety protocols, ensuring students are well-prepared for certification and professional work in the field. Throughout the program, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for evaluating the integrity of critical infrastructure and components, including vehicles, aircraft, and industrial equipment. This comprehensive course sequence supports rapid skill development for students aiming to enter the non-destructive evaluation industry quickly and effectively.
