COURSE CURRICULUM

The Management Diploma program requires the completion of 60 credits, including 15 required courses totaling 45 credits and 5 elective courses worth 15 credits. Core courses provide a comprehensive business foundation, starting with Principles of Accounting I and II (ACCT 1110, ACCT 1210) and Introductory Managerial Accounting (ACCT 2320) to develop accounting skills. Students also take Management Essentials (BUSN 1210), Introductory Business Law (BLAW 1320), Organizational Management Skills (BUSN 3310), and Human Resource Management (BUSN 3350) to build leadership and management capabilities. Technical skills are enhanced with Excel for Business (CSIS 1190) and Business Mathematics (FINC 1231), while marketing knowledge is covered in Introductory Marketing (MARK 1120). Business Ethics (PHIL 1122) emphasizes ethical decision-making. Communication skills are addressed by choosing either Business Communication (CMNS 1115) or Academic Writing (ENGL 1130). Further communication and interpersonal skills are developed by selecting one course from options like Academic Writing, Interpersonal Skills for the Workplace, Intercultural Communication, Understanding and Managing Interpersonal Conflict, or Personal Selling. Economics is covered by choosing from Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 1150), Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 1250), or The Canadian Economy (ECON 1101). The capstone experience involves selecting either Business Strategy & Simulation (BUSN 2275) or Entrepreneurship & New Venture Development (BUSN 3253), providing practical application of business concepts. The five electives allow students to customize their education, requiring two business electives at the 2000-4000 level, two commerce and business administration electives at the 2000-4000 level, and one general elective from any 1000-4000 level college course. This mix ensures a balanced curriculum combining essential management knowledge, specialized business expertise, and opportunities for broader learning, preparing graduates for leadership roles across various industries.
