COURSE CURRICULUM

To complete the Liberal Arts Diploma, students must earn a total of 60 university-transferable credits, including at least 33 credits from designated Arts and Humanities subjects. Eligible disciplines include Anthropology, Communications (excluding CMNS 1099), Creative Writing, Criminology, Economics, English (excluding ENGL 1099), Gender, Sexualities and Women’s Studies, Geography, History, Humanities, Legal Studies, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Music, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Political Science, Print Futures, Psychology, Sociology, Stagecraft and Event Technology, and Theatre. The program also includes a breadth requirement of 30 university-level credits from at least five different subject areas, with no more than 12 credits allowed from any single area. Students must complete a writing requirement by taking ENGL 1130, ENGL 1200, CMNS 1110, CMNS 1111, or CMNS 1115. For the reasoning requirement, students must take either PHIL 1101 or PHIL 1201, or fulfill it by taking at least three credits from List A and three credits from List B. The diploma also includes a laboratory science requirement, requiring one university-level lab science course of at least three credits. Additionally, students must complete six credits from each of two thematic categories: List A, which includes subjects such as Languages, English, Philosophy, Music, Theatre, and Performing Arts; and List B, which includes disciplines like Anthropology, Criminology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. This diploma allows students to explore broad academic interests while gaining versatile skills and university credits.
