COURSE CURRICULUM

Pharmacy Technician program is a comprehensive two-year diploma designed to prepare students for a vital role in healthcare. The curriculum includes courses in College Writing and Sociology of Community, providing foundational communication and cultural awareness skills. Core pharmacy courses cover Community Pharmacy Management, Pharmacy Calculations, Pharmacy Dispensing Theory and Labs, and Pharmacotherapeutics, offering both theoretical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience. Students engage in practical labs focused on dispensing, hospital practices, institutional dispensing, and aseptic compounding, ensuring proficiency in real-world pharmacy settings. The program emphasizes professionalism and ethics, communication, and collaboration to prepare students for effective teamwork in healthcare environments. Advanced courses deepen knowledge in pharmacotherapeutics, professional communication, and pharmacy calculations, culminating in a professional practicum where students gain valuable field experience. This practicum allows students to apply their learned skills in supervised clinical settings, bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. Throughout the program, students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, accuracy in medication calculations, and patient care knowledge, all aligned with national standards. Graduates will be well-prepared to meet licensing requirements, including passing the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) exams and the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) jurisprudence exam.
