COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronics Engineering Technician program at Confederation College is structured over four semesters to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in electronics, electrical systems, computer technologies, and telecommunications. In the first semester, students build essential skills with courses like Electrical I, Digital I, Electronics I, Computer Systems, and Technology Math I, alongside foundational College Writing and health and safety regulations. Moving into the second semester, the curriculum deepens with Electrical II, Electronics II, Introduction to EDA (Electronic Design Automation), and Introduction to CAD, complemented by Communications for Technology, Technology Math II, and Physics, plus an elective focused on Indigenous community or history, enriching students’ cultural understanding. The third semester introduces advanced topics such as Industrial Electronics I, Telecommunications, Industrial Data Networks, Computer Software I, Digital II, and Technology Math III, equipping students with hands-on skills in networking and software applications essential for modern electronics fields. Finally, the fourth semester covers Industrial Electronics II, Embedded Control Systems, Wide Area Networks, Automation Control Systems, Computer Networks, and Quality Assurance, preparing students for practical, real-world applications in automated and networked systems. A Professional Practice course supports students in transitioning from academic studies to career readiness. This curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with applied learning, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic systems in various industries. Through a combination of rigorous math, physics, communication, and technical courses, students develop critical problem-solving abilities and a strong technical foundation.
