COURSE CURRICULUM

Confederation College’s one-year General Arts and Science certificate program provides students with a diverse and well-rounded educational foundation through a carefully structured curriculum. In the first semester, students take AS 115 Success Strategies, which helps them develop essential academic and personal management skills, along with CS 050 College Writing, focusing on clear and effective written communication. SY 125 Introduction to Sociology introduces students to the fundamental concepts of human society and social behavior. In addition to these core courses, students choose three general education electives, allowing them to explore different subject areas based on their interests. The second semester builds on this foundation with AS 110 Managing Media in the Information Age, a course that teaches students how to critically evaluate and understand the impact of media in today's digital world. HU 215 Intercultural Dynamics offers insight into cultural interactions and global diversity, while PY 199 Introductory Psychology provides an overview of psychological principles and human behavior. Students also select three additional electives, offering further opportunities to tailor their education to personal and academic interests. This flexible structure not only broadens students’ knowledge across multiple disciplines but also helps them identify potential career paths or areas for further study. With transferable credits and exposure to various fields such as humanities, social sciences, and communications, the program is ideal for students looking to build their academic skills while keeping their future options open.
