COURSE CURRICULUM

Confederation College’s three-year advanced diploma in Interactive Media offers a diverse and comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in various digital media careers. In the first year, foundational courses such as College Writing, Introduction to User Experience Design, Graphic Design Fundamentals, 3D Modelling and Texturing, Audio/Video Production, Web Design & Development Fundamentals, and Introduction to Photography and Image Editing establish a broad skill set. The second year builds on this foundation with courses like Interactive Media Communications, Creative Coding for Interactive Design, 2D Illustration and Animation, 3D Animation and Rigging, Audio/Video Storytelling, Interactive Web Development Techniques, and Portrait and Still Life Photography. In the third year, students explore Emerging Interactive Technologies, User Interface Design, Real-Time 3D Game Engines, Motion Design and Visual Effects, Photography Techniques for Interactive Media, and Application Development, alongside electives to broaden their expertise. The fourth year offers specialized courses including Interactive Installations, Extended Reality Studio, Applied Marketing Design, 3D Interactive World Building, Professionalism and Job Readiness, and Content Management Systems, with additional electives for a well-rounded education. The fifth year focuses on practical and business skills with Client Projects, the Business of Interactive Media, Interactive Media Portfolio development, and an Interactive Capstone Project, providing hands-on experience and a professional showcase. The program culminates in a six-month Media Placement, allowing students to gain real-world experience in their chosen field. This curriculum integrates creative, technical, and professional training to prepare graduates for careers in user experience design, 3D design, web development, animation, photography, and interactive media, supported by industry-standard tools and faculty guidance.
