COURSE CURRICULUM

Confederation College’s Electrical Engineering Technology advanced diploma program is a comprehensive three-year curriculum designed to equip students with the skills needed to excel in the field of electrical and automated systems. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through courses such as Success Strategies, College Writing, Electrical I, Digital I, Electronics I, Health and Safety Regulations, Technology Math I, and Microsoft Office, along with a general education elective. The second year advances technical knowledge with courses in Mathematics II, Communications for Technology, Prints & Canadian Electrical Code I, Installation Methods, Electrical II, Electronics II, and an introduction to CAD. The third year focuses on industrial applications with Industrial Electronics I, Industrial Data Networks, Drawings, Specifications & Standards, Canadian Electrical Code II, Power Systems I, Mathematics III, and Sociology of Community. In the fourth year, students deepen their expertise in Industrial Electronics II, Monitoring & Communication Systems, Automation Control Systems I, Machines & Drives I, Quality Assurance, Professional Practice, and an elective. The fifth year includes Networks II, Renewable Energy & Storage, Advanced Drawings & Specifications, Building Automation Systems, HMI/SCADA Systems, Mathematics IV, and Automation Control Systems II. The final year rounds out the program with Automation Control Systems III and lab, Power Systems II, Canadian Electrical Code IV, a Capstone Project, and advanced mathematics courses. Students also choose between Pneumatics & Hydraulics or Specialty Installs. This curriculum is designed to provide practical and theoretical knowledge in electrical engineering technology, preparing graduates for careers in designing, programming, installing, and maintaining automated electrical systems across various industries.
