COURSE CURRICULUM

The Embedded Systems Development graduate certificate is a comprehensive four-term program designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a successful career in the embedded systems industry. In Level 1, students are introduced to foundational subjects such as Digital Design Principles, Electronics Design Principles, Embedded Programming Principles, and Linux for Embedded Systems, all supported by Conestoga 101 to aid in academic success. Level 2 builds on these foundations with courses like Hardware/Software Interfacing, Embedded Systems Hardware Design, Data Structures and Algorithms for Embedded Programming, and Software Engineering Principles, enabling students to design and develop integrated hardware and software systems. In Level 3, students focus on Career Management in Canada, gaining professional development skills and preparing for the workplace. Level 4 enhances their knowledge further with specialized courses including Reconfigurable Systems Principles, Operating Systems Design, Emerging Technologies, and the Engineering Capstone Project, where students synthesize their learning through hands-on design and implementation projects. The program’s strong emphasis on real-world applications, along with exposure to current technologies and tools, ensures that graduates are well-prepared for roles in industries such as automotive systems, telecommunications, medical devices, consumer electronics, and industrial automation. This program also offers an optional co-op pathway in place of the career management term, providing students with valuable industry experience. Through rigorous coursework, lab work, and applied projects, students develop the technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking required to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of embedded systems development.
