COURSE CURRICULUM

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program offers a thorough interdisciplinary approach to understanding and addressing climate change and its effects on the natural environment. In Level 1, you will build foundational knowledge through courses such as Climate Issues and Policies, Greenhouse Gas Accounting, and Foundations of Climate Science, while also gaining skills in Infrastructure and Transportation, Energy, Sustainability and Equity, and Introduction to Risk Management and GIS. These courses provide a broad perspective on climate science, policy frameworks, and technical tools essential for assessing environmental challenges. Moving into Level 2, the program deepens your expertise with courses focused on practical applications, including Green Infrastructure and Land Use, Waste Management, and Climate Change Governance. You will also explore Environmental, Social, and Governance Reporting and analyze real-world scenarios through Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Case Studies. Complementing these technical studies are courses on Risk Management and Mitigation Strategies and effective Presentations and Graphic Communication, which prepare you to convey complex information clearly and develop actionable solutions. Throughout the program, quantitative and qualitative analytical tools are emphasized to equip you with the skills necessary to conduct change analysis, risk assessment, and develop adaptive and mitigative strategies. Graduates will be prepared to contribute meaningfully to environmental planning, sustainability initiatives, and climate resilience efforts across a range of sectors, supporting informed decision-making in an evolving global climate landscape.
