The two-year 3D Computer Animation program at Conestoga College offers a comprehensive blend of artistic and technical courses designed to prepare students for the dynamic animation industry. In Level 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Anatomy and Life Drawing, Story Development I, and Animation Methodologies I, which build essential skills in drawing, storytelling, and animation principles. Sound Design and Engineering and Environmental Constructs further enhance students’ understanding of creating immersive audiovisual content and digital environments, while Safety in the Workplace ensures they are knowledgeable about maintaining a safe studio environment. The introductory course Conestoga 101 helps students transition smoothly into college life. Moving into Level 2, the curriculum advances with Story Development II and Directed Project labs, enabling students to deepen narrative skills and apply learned techniques in collaborative projects. Character Design and Animation Methodologies II focus on refining character creation and complex animation techniques. Portfolio Development and Presentation prepares students to showcase their work professionally, essential for employment or further studies. Students also choose electives from various program options to tailor their learning experience. Additionally, the program incorporates practical experience through a Field Placement, offering real-world exposure and networking opportunities within the animation industry. The Project with Community Involvement further encourages applying animation skills in meaningful ways.
