COURSE CURRICULUM

The Welding Engineering Technology advanced diploma program at Conestoga is a comprehensive three-year course designed to provide students with a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for welding, metal fabrication, and robotic welding applications. In Level 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Computer Applications, Engineering Drawing Interpretation, Technical Mathematics I, Welding Process Theory, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Semi-Automatic Welding, Thermal Cutting and Brazing, and a General Education elective. Level 2 builds on these basics with College Reading & Writing, CAD for Fabrication Technology, Technical Mathematics II, Welding Processes Theory II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding II, Semi-Automatic Welding II, Welding Quality and Inspection, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Introduction to Metal Fabrication, and another elective. By Level 3, the focus shifts to Technical Math III, Robotic Fundamentals, Welding Codes and Standards, Welding Process Applications I, Welding Process Technology I, along with a General Education elective. Level 4 dives deeper into Robotic Programming, Visual Weld Inspection Applications, Welding Mechanics, Welding Metallurgy I, Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Fundamentals, Welding Circuits and Controls, Welding Process Applications II, Welding Processes Technology II, plus an elective. Level 5 emphasizes Manufacturing Processes, Welding Design, Welding Metallurgy II, Technical Project I-A, Welding Process Technology III, Non-Destructive Evaluation A, and an elective. Finally, Level 6 includes Operations Management, Quality Assurance Systems, Welding Automation and Tooling, Technical Project II-B, Non-Destructive Evaluation B, Welding Inspection & Quality Control Certification, Welding Design II, and rounds out with an elective. This structure ensures graduates are well-prepared for advanced welding careers, combining hands-on experience, robotics, metallurgy, inspection techniques, and quality control, meeting industry standards and certification requirements.
