COURSE CURRICULUM

The Robotics and Automation Technology program at Conestoga College is a comprehensive six-level curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in modern automated manufacturing environments. In Level 1, foundational courses such as Electrical Fundamentals, Introduction to Fluid Power and Automation, Machining Processes, Engineering Drawing, Mathematics, and Structured Programming prepare students with essential engineering and technical skills. Level 2 builds on these foundations with courses in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, advanced Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Materials, Applied Mechanics, and PLC and HMI Programming. Level 3 introduces more specialized subjects including Dimensional Metrology, Digital Devices and Microprocessors, Electrical Design and Commissioning, Manufacturing Processes, Advanced PLC Programming, and an Introduction to Robotics. Students deepen their knowledge in Level 4 through Process Control, Advanced Solid Modelling for Robotics, Mechanical Design, Mechanics of Materials, Advanced Programming, and Advanced Automation and Robotics. In Level 5, students focus on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Internet and Device Communication, Industrial Engineering and Time Study, Additive and Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanism Design and Analysis, Safety Circuits and Standards, and an Automation Project. Finally, Level 6 includes courses in Engineering Economics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Systems, and a concluding Automation Project, complemented by general education electives. This program emphasizes hands-on learning, advanced programming, and integration of mechanical, electrical, and computer technologies to prepare graduates for careers in robotics, automation, manufacturing, and industrial engineering. The comprehensive curriculum ensures graduates are skilled in design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated systems, positioning them well for industry demands.
