COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technology program is a comprehensive three-year advanced diploma designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge in the field of electrical systems, power, and automation. In Level 1, students build a foundation through courses such as Electrical Principles, Electrical Skills I, Introduction to Digital Electronics, and Mathematics I tailored for electrical applications, along with essential communication and computer applications courses. Level 2 expands on these fundamentals with courses like Programmable Logic Controllers I, Electrical Fundamentals (Power), Electrical Skills II, Instrumentation, and Mathematics II, complemented by studies in magnetic circuits and technical drawing. By Level 3, the program delves into more specialized subjects including Programmable Logic Controllers II, Electrical Projects, DC Motor/Generator Control, Industrial Power Electronics, Photovoltaic Systems, and Safety Standards for Electrical Systems. Level 4 focuses on Electrical Code, Power Transformers, Graphic Interface to PLCs, AC Motor and Control, Embedded Design, and Instrumentation for Electrical Systems, preparing students for advanced technical challenges. Level 5 covers Advanced AC Theory and Power Systems, Machine Control Systems, Embedded Design II, Project Planning and Presentation, Conservation and Energy Management, Networking Principles, and Programming Applications for Electrical Systems. In the final year, Level 6 includes Electronic Machine Controls, Transformer Design, Process and Batch Control Systems, a Final Project, and Power Systems Transmission and Distribution, enabling students to consolidate their knowledge and practical skills. Throughout the program, students also complete elective general education courses to support their overall development. This program prepares graduates for careers in electrical design, automation, power systems, and related fields, while meeting the academic requirements for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) through OACETT.
